MEET MAYRA

WHEN I FOUND MYSELF STRUGGLING TO FIND A QUICK AND EASY PRENATAL WORKOUT PROGRAM DURING MY FIRST PREGNANCY, I KNEW SOMETHING HAD TO CHANGE. I WAS FRUSTRATED TRYING TO FIND PRENATAL WORKOUTS THAT WERE NOT ONLY PREGNANCY FRIENDLY BUT ALSO ENGAGING AND CHALLENGING.

THESE EXPERIENCES INSPIRED ME TO CREATE A YOGA PROGRAM TAILORED FOR PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM WOMEN BASED ON THE IDEA THAT EVERY BODY TYPE DESERVES TO MOVE WITH JOY NO MATTER THEIR FITNESS BACKGROUND. IMA YOGA IS HERE TO MEET YOU WHERE YOU’RE AT AND PROVIDE YOU WITH A GREAT YOGA EXPERIENCE FOR BOTH PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM.

MAYRA IS A REGISTERED PRENATAL YOGA INSTRUCTOR AND PREGNANCY-POSTPARTUM CORRECTIVE EXERCISE SPECIALIST WITH ADDITIONAL TRAINING IN SCULPT YOGA. MAYRA IS THE MOM OF 2 boys. SHE HAS BEEN PRACTICING YOGA SINCE AGE 5 AFTER HAVING HER FIRST OPEN HEART SURGERY. SHE’S PASSIONATE ABOUT WOMEN’S HEALTH AND INCLUSIVITY IN the fitness community.

  • Most workouts can be done without equipment or with things around the home like a wall, kitchen towel, and chair. If you intend to do yoga regularly while pregnant, yoga blocks and straps are incredible tools to have to provide better stability.

  • The first stage of the postpartum program can be worked on soon after delivery, as the main focus is on breathing and posture. However there is no problem if you decide to wait until you are cleared at the 6 week postpartum visit or anytime after that. The program is completely self paced based on your current circumstances and goals.

  • As of 2024, Ima Yoga Method consists of yoga classes (ranging from calm and gentle to more active, fast-paced classes) as well as instruction on specific movements that may be helpful to master like 360 breathing and glute bridges. Keep an eye out for more offerings in 2025!

  • Everyone’s postpartum goals are different. Some people want to get back to running, CrossFit, others simply want to stop relying on panty liners before leaving the house. The Postpartum program offers you a basic framework with options on how to dial up the intensity as you master each movement.
